3 Outfits, 3 Prices: High-Street, Mid-Range, and Luxury
I don’t know about you, but sometimes I like to play this little fashion game with myself: how much can an outfit really change depending on the price point? You know, the exact same “look” but with three totally different budgets — high-street (aka affordable, everyday finds), mid-range (a little splurge but not crazy), and then, of course, the dream version: full-on luxury.
It’s actually such a fun way to see how style isn’t just about labels — it’s about how you put things together. Let me show you what I mean.
Outfit 1: The Classic Work Look
-
High-Street: Think a crisp white button-up from H&M, black trousers from Zara, and a pair of pointed flats you can run errands in. Clean, easy, nothing fussy.
-
Mid-Range: Swap that shirt for a fitted one from Banana Republic, add tailored pants from Reiss, and throw in some sleek leather loafers from Cole Haan. Suddenly, you look a little more “I’ve got my life together.”
-
Luxury: Picture a silk blouse from The Row, perfectly cut trousers from Max Mara, and those iconic Gucci horsebit loafers. Same vibe — just elevated.
Outfit 2: The Casual Weekend
-
High-Street: A pair of Levi’s from the sale rack, a Uniqlo tee, and white sneakers (Converse or Adidas Stan Smiths always work).
-
Mid-Range: Swap in Agolde jeans (my personal favorite for fit), a soft cashmere tee from J.Crew, and Veja sneakers. Still laid-back, but you feel a bit fancier.
-
Luxury: Now imagine Khaite jeans, a Totême tee, and Saint Laurent sneakers. Same “jeans and tee,” but the vibe is a little more understated chic.
Outfit 3: The Night Out
-
High-Street: A satin slip dress from ASOS, strappy heels from Steve Madden, and some fun statement earrings. Done.
-
Mid-Range: A Reformation slip dress, Schutz heels, and dainty Mejuri jewelry. Romantic without breaking the bank.
-
Luxury: A bias-cut silk dress from Galvan, Jimmy Choo stilettos, and diamonds (why not?). That’s the fantasy moment.
Here’s the thing — each version of the outfit works. You don’t have to spend a fortune to look stylish. Sometimes I’ll mix all three categories in a single look: like Zara pants with a Reformation blazer and a vintage Chanel bag. Honestly, that’s the sweet spot — combining high and low until it feels like you.
So, tell me — are you more of a high-street hunter, a mid-range splurger, or are you saving up for that luxury piece you’ll keep forever?
